T-Pain Remixes ‘Buy U a Drank’ for Wendy’s Frosty Campaign

3 min read

Once the club closes at three, T-Pain will be heading to Wendy’s. The singer/rapper has partnered with the fast-food chain to remix his 2007 hit “Buy U a Drank” titled “Buy U a Frosty,” named after the company’s signature frozen beverage.

“Buy U a Frosty” arrives with a music video directed by SixTwentySix’s Miles & A, which can be viewed below. The clip opens with T-Pain in his studio where he shouts his signature “boop boop” ad-lib over the instrumentation. Moments later, T-Pain finds himself at Wendy’s, where he sips on the multiple Strawberry Frostys as he performs the track.

T-Pain says he’s been interested in collaborating with Wendy’s for years now. “I loved Wendy’s We Beefin? mixtape back in 2018, and knew I wanted to work with them when the time was right,” he states. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to remake a classic with one of the most classic menu items of all time – the Wendy’s Frosty.”

Carl Loredo, global chief marketing officer for The Wendy’s Company, adds, “Wendy’s loves collaborating with authentic artists and creators, and T-Pain is as real as it gets.”

Loredo continues, “‘Buy U a Frosty®’ masterfully captures the nostalgic feeling you get when you dip into a Frosty – a feeling that has the power to transport you to your favorite places and times. We know fans will love listening to and duetting the track while enjoying this summer’s most delicious strawberry flavor.”

As part of the campaign, T-Pain and Wendy’s are giving fans a free small Frosty with any purchase with the offer on Wendy’s app or on the website from June 5 through June 21.

“Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the week of May 26, 2007. The Yung Joc-assisted bop was the lead single from T-Pain’s sophomore album, Epiphany, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In June 2022, Epiphany was certified 2x multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than two million equivalent units. It’s his most-certified album to date.

In February, T-Pain released his covers album, On Top of the Covers. It features his rendition of classics such as Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.”

“This covers album has been years in the making. I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer,” said T-Pain. “It got put on hold for a bit but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time. These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it.”
