Chelsea’s Champions League-winning goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy received a heroic welcome when he arrived in Saudi Arabia.
The Senegalese arrived at Al- Ahli to complete his paperwork for his transfer from Chelsea Football Club to the Saudi Arabia professional league. He was welcomed at the airport by representatives of the club and was gifted a green bouquet, the colour of the flowers was a representation of Al-Ahli’s colour.
Edouard Mendy became surplus to requirements at Chelsea following the arrival of Graham Potter who was hired as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues are expected to receive a transfer fee ranging from £16 to £17 million for the goalkeeper. However, Mendy’s annual salary is £12 million plus £3 million add-ons.
The 31-year-old joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 club, Rennes during the 2020 summer transfer window. He won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.
