Tory Lanez was convicted on charges stemming from the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion but Akademiks isn’t sure he’s guilty.
“Sh-t…I thought he didn’t do it. I still kinda…I’m a little doubtful, but the verdict is the verdict. I think the people who were reporting at court at that time we’re biased based on what they already [thought],” he told Vlad.
Akademiks also addressed Drake seemingly throwing shade at Megan over the shooting.
“I think the people who were reporting at court at that time were biased … We even had Drake who said, ‘The chick is lying,’ and he took some flack for it. It became one of those things where the majority of the industry was like, ‘You know what? This Tory guy might be innocent.’”
Lanez has been convicted of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and gross negligence in discharging his firearm convictions. He is facing a maximum of 22 years in prison. The prosecution is recommending he spend 13 years behind bars.
His sentencing is next month.
